Main Quests

Quest 1 - Bring the Vellum Scroll to Agar.
In the Sorpigal Dungeon, at map entry 2, an elderly man asks you for a courier service. If you accept, he will ask you to take the Vellum Scroll to the wizard Agar in Erliquin, at map entry 2. Agar will award each party member 1000 EXP and demand Quest 2.

Quest 2 - Bring the Vellum Scroll to Telgoran.
When you complete quest 1, Agar in Erliquin, at map entry 2, commands you to take the Vellum Scroll to Telgoran in Dusk, at map entry 9. Telgoran will take the Vellum Scroll and award each party member 2500 EXP and a total of 1000 gold. He also gives quest 3.

Quest 3 - Find the Brothers and the Gold Key.
When you complete quest 3, Telgoran in Dusk, at map entry 9 will tell you to seek the brothers Zam and Zom. Zam is in Portsmith, at map entry 10. He tells you his clue is C-15. Zom is in Algary, at map entry 13. His clue is 1-15. This is a map reference of which the brothers have given you half each. They combine to C-1, 15-15, which means map area C1, x=15, y=15 (Map entry 3). Go to this spot and search to find a Ruby Whistle, 2000 gold and a note that reads: "The Stronghold lies at B-3, 14-2. Blow twice to enter." This refers to the Stronghold in the Enchanted Forest in the overland map area B3, map entry 4. Go there and the Ruby Whistle will start to glow and ask how many times you will blow it to enter. Inside the Stronghold in the Enchanted Forest, in the second level, at map entry 4, you find a pedestal with a small sable and white dog upon it. When you find this, each party member is rewarded with 10000 EXP each. Do not desecrate it, but search immediately after, without leaving the square. You will find the Gold Key needed to release the true King Alamar. If the key is not there, you will have to do quests 1-3 over again. It has been claimed that you must face the Gray Minotaur at map entry 5 on the second level of the Stronghold in the Enchanted Forest before the Gold Key will appear. I can neither confirm nor reject this claim, but beware.

Quest 4 - Find King Alamar.
The true King Alamar is kept prisoner in The Fabled Castle Doom, at map entry 24. The spiral inside castle Doom that leads to King Alamar cannot be accessed by teleportation or etheralization. The only way to get there is to enter the overland map area A1 at map entry 1 (x=15, y=7) and walk to Castle Doom at map entry 2. There a secret passage will appear to take you to the spiral. Mind your step, and jump the squares at map entries 17, 19 and 21 inside The Fabled Castle Doom. King Alamar will give you the Eye of Goros and quest 5.

Quest 5 - Confront the imposter.
The true King Alamar, inside The Fabled Castle Doom, at map entry 24, will give you the Eye of Goros upon completion of quest 4, and ask you to go and expose the imposter in Castle Alamar, at map entry 9. To be able to enter Castle Alamar in overland map area E3, map entry 1, you must either find the password in the same map region to get to the castle (See overland map area E3, map entries 2 and 3) and have a Merchant`s Pass (overland map area C1, map entry 1) or you must teleport from The Caves at the Korin Bluffs, map entry 21. Regardless of how you enter the castle, you will need the King`s Pass (See overland map area A2, map entry 1) to enter the throne room to meet the imposter who has taken King Alamar`s place. Upon confronting him with the Eye of Goros, he will send you to a Soul Maze.

Quest 6 - Escape the Soul Maze
When you confront the imposter of Castle Alamar, at map entry 9 with the Eye of Goros, he will send you to a Soul Maze. The only way to escape this Soul Maze, is to find the name of the imposter. Look closely at the map of the Soul Maze and you see the walls spelling out "My name is Sheltem". Tell "Sheltem" to map entry 1 to escape and get quest 7.

Quest 7 - Find the Inner Sanctum.
When you escape the Soul Maze of Sheltem, you will be told you`re eligible for transfer and that you should seek out the Inner Sanctum. The Inner Sanctum is located on the Astral Plane, at map entry 8. However, a few things must first be prepared. To enter the Astral Plane, you must either cast an Astral Spell (W 7,1), which any level 13 wizard can do (or you can visit the well in overland map area C1, map entry 6, to get access to all spells if your wizard is lower level or your archer is below level 20). You can also enter the Astral Plane through the Diamond Door in overland map area E3, map entry 4, but then you also need the Dimaond Key from overland map area B2, map entry 4 (the riddle answer is "Love"). While you`re at it, you might as well also get the Key Card from the Volcano, map entry 7 (Answer the riddle with "Gala"). The Volcano is located in overland map area C4, map entry 1. To enter the Volcano, you need the Coral Key from overland map area A4, map entry 2. You are teleported here from overland map area A4, map entry 1, when you correctly answer the color for at least three party members. The colors are revealed by a gypsy in overland map area C2, map entry 3. The Key Card opens the door at map entry 7 in the Astral Plane, but only after you have visited all the Astral Projectors at map entries 2-6. These will all take you to outside the Inn in Sorpigal, so you must enter the Astral Plane 6 times to get to the Inner Sanctum. Finally, upon reaching the Inner Sanctum, you have won the game and receive your score. You can, however continue playing, or you can go to the Gates to Another World in overland map area B1, map entry 6 for transfer of your party to Might & Magic II - Gates to Another World.


The Lords` Quests

Lord Ironfist

Quest 8 - Find the Stronghold in Raven`s Wood.
Lord Ironfist at map entry 7 in Castle White Wolf in overland map area B3, map entry 3, quests you to find the Warrior`s Stronghold in Ravens Wood in overland map area B2, map entry 1. Return to him to claim the reward of 1000 EXP each and quest 9.

Quest 9 - Find Lord Kilburn.
Lord Ironfist at map entry 7 in Castle White Wolf in overland map area B3, map entry 3, quests you to fin the exiled Lord Kilburn. He is located in overland map area C3, map entry 1. Return to Lord Ironfist to claim the reward of 2000 EXP each and quest 10.

Quest 10 - Discover the Secret of Portsmith.
Lord Ironfist at map entry 7 in Castle White Wolf in overland map area B3, map entry 3, quests you to discover the secret of Portsmith. The secret is a Succubus Queen hiding at map entry 11. Note that you can only get there by teleportation or etheralization. Return to Lord Ironfist to claim the reward of 3000 EXP each and quest 11.

Quest 11 - Find the Pirates Secret Cove.
Lord Ironfist at map entry 7 in Castle White Wolf in overland map area B3, map entry 3, quests you to find the Pirates Secret Cove in overland map area A2, map entries 3. These secret coves can only be found if you have the Pirates Maps A & B. These are acuired by trading in overland map area C3, map entry 2. Return to Lord Ironfist to claim the reward of 4000 EXP each and quest 12.

Quest 12 - Find the shipwreck of the Jolly Raven.
Lord Ironfist at map entry 7 in Castle White Wolf in overland map area B3, map entry 3, quests you to find the shipwreck of the Jolly Raven in overland map area C4, map entry 4. Return to Lord Ironfist to claim the reward of 6000 EXP each and quest 13.

Quest 13 - Defeat the Pirate Ghost Ship.
Lord Ironfist at map entry 7 in Castle White Wolf in overland map area B3, map entry 3, quests you to find and defeat the Pirate Ghost Ship in overland map area B4, map entry 1. Claims I cannnot confirm or deny states the Pirate Ghost Ship moves around, but at least I seemed to successfully encouter it at the same spot several times. You will have to fight the Pirate Captain, Pirates and Ghosts. Return to Lord Ironfist to claim the reward of 8000 EXP each and quest 14.

Quest 14 - Defeat the Stronghold in Ravens Wood.
Lord Ironfist at map entry 7 in Castle White Wolf in overland map area B3, map entry 3, quests you to find and defeat Raven, Lord Archer in The Warrior`s Stronghold, level 2, map entry 10. The stronghold is located in overland map area B2, map entry 1. Claims I cannot confirm or deny state that surrendering to the Lord Archer also fulfils this quest. Return to Lord Ironfist to claim the reward of 10000 EXP each. If you speak to Lord Ironfist again, he will offer quest 8 anew and there you go again for more EXP if you want.



Lord Inspectron

Quest 15 - Find the Ancient Ruins in the Quivering Forest.
Lord Inspectron at map entry 8 in Castle Blackridge North in overland map area B1, map entry 3, quests you to find the Ancient Wizard Lair in the Quivering Forest in overland map area B1, map entry 4. Return to him to claim the reward of 1000 EXP each and quest 16.

Quest 16 - Visit Blithes Peak and report.
Lord Inspectron at map entry 8 in Castle Blackridge North in overland map area B1, map entry 3, quests you to go to Blithes Peak in overland map area B3, map entry 6. Return to Lord Inspecrton to claim the reward of 2000 EXP each and quest 17.

Quest 17 - Get Cactus Nactar.
Lord Inspectron at map entry 8 in Castle Blackridge North in overland map area B1, map entry 3, quests you to bring him a sample of Cactus Nectar from the nomad trading post in overland map area D1, map entry 3. Return to Lord Inspecrton and make sure the first character in the party carries the Cactus Nectar to claim the reward of 3000 EXP each and quest 18.

Quest 18 - Find the Shrine of Okzar.
Lord Inspectron at map entry 8 in Castle Blackridge North in overland map area B1, map entry 3, quests you to find the Shrine of Okzar in Dusk Dungeon, map entry 13. Return to Lord Inspecrton to claim the reward of 4000 EXP each and quest 19.

Quest 19 - Find the Fabled Fountain of Dragadune.
Lord Inspectron at map entry 8 in Castle Blackridge North in overland map area B1, map entry 3, quests you to find the Fabled Fountain of Dragadune in the Ruins of Castle Dragadune, level 1, map entry 7. Note that you only need to find it. Turning gold into experience is optional. Return to Lord Inspecrton to claim the reward of 6000 EXP each and quest 20.

Quest 20 - Solve the Riddle of the Ruby.
Lord Inspectron at map entry 8 in Castle Blackridge North in overland map area B1, map entry 3, quests you to solve the Riddle of the Ruby. This probably has to do with the Ruby Whistle found in overland map area C1, map entry 3 as part of quest 3. Completion may depend upon finding the Stronghold in the Enchanted Forest in overland map area B3, map entry 4, and blowing the Ruby Whistle twice to enter. Return to Lord Inspecrton to claim the reward of 8000 EXP each and quest 21.

Quest 21 - Defeat the Stronghold in the Enchanted Forest.
Lord Inspectron at map entry 8 in Castle Blackridge North in overland map area B1, map entry 3, quests you to go to the Stronghold in the Enchanted Forest, level 2, map entry 5 and defeat the Gray Minotaur. Return to Lord Inspecrton to claim the reward of 10000 EXP each. If you speak to Lord Inspectron again, he will offer quest 8 anew and there you go again for more EXP if you want.



Lord Hacker

Quest 22 - Bring Lord Hacker Garlic.
Lord Hacker at map entry 7 in Castle Blackridge South in overland map area B1, map entry 2, quests you to bring him Garlic. Note that the first character in your party must carry the Garlic upon presenting it to Lord Hacker. Return to Lord Hacker to claim the reward of 1000 EXP each and quest 23.

Quest 23 - Bring Lord Hacker Wolfsbane.
Lord Hacker at map entry 7 in Castle Blackridge South in overland map area B1, map entry 2, quests you to bring him Wolfsbane. Note that the first character in your party must carry the Wolfsbane upon presenting it to Lord Hacker. Return to Lord Hacker to claim the reward of 2000 EXP each and quest 24.

Quest 24 - Bring Lord Hacker Belladonna.
Lord Hacker at map entry 7 in Castle Blackridge South in overland map area B1, map entry 2, quests you to bring him Belladonna. Note that the first character in your party must carry the Belladonna upon presenting it to Lord Hacker. Return to Lord Hacker to claim the reward of 3000 EXP each and quest 25.

Quest 25 - Bring Lord Hacker the Head of a Medusa.
Lord Hacker at map entry 7 in Castle Blackridge South in overland map area B1, map entry 2, quests you to bring him a Medusa Head. One can be chopped off a Medusa after battling it in the Medusa Lair, map entry 4, in overland map area B2, map entry 2. Note that the first character in your party must carry the Medusa Head upon presenting it to Lord Hacker. Return to Lord Hacker to claim the reward of 4000 EXP each and quest 26.

Quest 26 - Bring Lord Hacker the Eye of a Wyvern.
Lord Hacker at map entry 7 in Castle Blackridge South in overland map area B1, map entry 2, quests you to bring him a Wyvern`s Eye. One can be picked up after battling the Wyverns and the Hydra of Wyvern Peaks in overland map area C3, map entry 3. Note that the first character in your party must carry the Wyvern`s Eye upon presenting it to Lord Hacker. Return to Lord Hacker to claim the reward of 6000 EXP each and quest 27.

Quest 27 - Bring Lord Hacker a Dragon`s Tooth.
Lord Hacker at map entry 7 in Castle Blackridge South in overland map area B1, map entry 2, quests you to bring him a Dragon`s Tooth. One can be picked up after battling a Red Dragon in the Dragon Pass in overland map area A2, map entry 2. Note that the first character in your party must carry the Dragon`s Tooth upon presenting it to Lord Hacker. Return to Lord Hacker to claim the reward of 8000 EXP each and quest 28.

Quest 29 - Bring Lord Hacker the Ring of Okrim.
Lord Hacker at map entry 7 in Castle Blackridge South in overland map area B1, map entry 2, quests you to bring him the Ring of Okrim. It must be taken from the wizard Okrim after defeating him, some Wizards and a Brontosaurus in battle. Okrim is found in the Ancient Wizard Lair level 1, map entry 3, in the Quivering Forest, in overland map area B1, map entry 4. Note that the first character in your party must carry the Ring of Okrim upon presenting it to Lord Hacker. Return to Lord Hacker to claim the reward of 10000 EXP each. Since Lord Hacker gave you these quests for his own gain as much as yours, as opposed to the Lords Ironfist and Inspectron, he will not want to speak to you ever again. If you try, save first, heh! (The tragedy includes loosing all money and all unequipped items as well as a free trip down his Pit of Peril (Castle Blackridge South, map entry 8) which takes you directly to the bottom level of Castle Dragadune...)



Lord Alamar

Quest 30 - Find the Crypt of Carmenca.
The fake Lord Alamar in the Throne Room of Castle Alamar, at map entry 9 in overland map area E3 , map entry 1, quests you to find the Crypt of Carmenca. He doesn`t care if you`re already quested and this quest take preceedence over any other quest you may have taken. It also keeps you from taking any other Lord`s quest. The Crypt of Carmenca does not excist, at least not as far as I can say. It`s the fake King Alamar`s way to keep you from doing the other Lords` bidding and thus advancing in levels. The only way to get rid of this quest once it`s taken, is by casting the Remove Quest spell.



Other Quests

Quest 31 - Climb the Trees.
Arenko Guire in overland map area D3, map entry 2 will give you a reward if you climb all the trees marked 'T' in the D3 area map. Return to him when done and choose between, Gold, Gems or an Item as your reward.

Quest 32 - Solve the Magic Square.
In the Hawkseye Hills in overland map area D3, map entry 1 there`s a cave called the Magic Square. See the dungeon description for info on how to solve this 'quest'. The reward is +2 Intelligence, 20 gems, 200 gold and 2000 EXP.

Quest 33 - Be Deemed Worthy.
The Clerics of the South are located in the lowest level of Castle Dragadune, map entry 8. See them, then find the Brass Gongs at map entries 7 and strike them until you have heard the following tones at least once each: Sharp, Mellow, Loud.. Return to the Clerics of the South. They will now deem you Worthy and you can now benefit from the places that grant an increase of the different statistics to those Worthy. Note, as far as I can discern, the tones are random each time you strike the same gong, meaning you don`t have to visit them all. It also seems any given gong sounds only on every other strike.

Quest 34 - Island Trivia.
In overland map area B4, map entry 2, you can find the Island Trivia. Participation costs 500 gold, unless you have visited map entry 8 for a free trivia chance. Beyond you`ll be asked 5 questions and you`ll be awarded 50 gems for each corrct answer:

Quest 35 - End Og`s Plight.
Search the black and white checkered rooms in level 4 of The Fabled Building of Gold, map entry 6, and the Ancient Wizard Lair level 1, map entry 4 to find the Black and White Queen Idols (B Queen Idol and W Queen Idol ).. Take them to the Blind Seer Og, at map entry 4 in overland map area D4. He will say "Queen to queens level 3". Your response is supposed to be "Queen to Kings level 1". How were you supposed to know? As always, it seems easy enough once you know the answer. Three hints has been given throughout the Land of Varn: "The first part is female" (Which means Queen, of course...), "The second part is more valueable" (Only the King is more valueable than the queen in chess), and "The last part is the first" (level 1, as opposed to 3...). Well, anyways, you`ve restored Og`s sight, all your characters get 25000 EXP, and Og tells you there`s an important prisoner in Castle Doom.

Quest 36 - The Wheel of Luck.
At map entry 1 in overland map area A3, you find the Game of Luck. Spin the wheel to gain, gems, EXP, etcetera. You will, however, get nothing unless you have slain one or more of the four great beasts. Also beware then wheel will award each character differently. The freat beasts and their locations are as follows. Note that they reappear after each spinning of the wheel, uh...and...they`re not alone....

Quest 37 - Judgement Day.
In his Caves in the Korin Bluffs, at map entry 17, in overland map area B3, map entry 2, the wizard Ranalou will let you use his teleporters to go to all the six castles. In each castle you can find a prisoner whom you can choose to set free, leave undisturbed or torment. You attitude toward each prisoner and your charcters` alignment (and class/race?) will determine how each character is judged by the Giant Statue with the Scale of Judgement at map entry 3 in overland map area E1. The more appropriate each character has behaved according to hers or his alignment, the better the awards from the Statue of Judgement.
